Böker 188 Zeta
$125.00
Böker proudly presents the new Cera-Titan knife – with a pinch of extremely hard ceramic and a dash of silver particles, Cera-Titan is taking titanium blades to a new level. Böker has coined a new term just for this exciting new blade material, combining the benefits that a ceramic blade offers, but with none of the drawbacks. With this revolutionary titanium alloy blade material, Cera-Titan is flexible, will stay sharp up to 5 times longer than steel blades, and once sharpening is necessary, the edge is easily honed on a normal sharpening steel in the convenience of your home. Past attempts by other manufacturers to product titanium blades have missed the mark since titanium alone cannot be hardened like steel, failing to produce any kind of sustained cutting capacity. However, Cera-Titan comes to Böker from the sintered titanium experts in Japan, who have added some new ingredients to the mix to produce a blade sintered out of titanium alloy with an edge retention that could almost rival ceramic. Like any good cook, they’re keeping their exact recipe a secret, but we can tell you that extremely hard ceramic and small amounts of silver are added to the titanium powder. Pressing and sintering is followed by a coining process that further compresses the structure of the alloy. This revolutionary process offers the benefits that traditional steel cannot. Cera-Titan blades are 40% lighter than steel, will stay sharp longer than steel, and will not rust. Cera-Titan’s blade will flex without breaking and when sharpening is needed, the blade can be honed on a conventional sharpening system (finish with a ceramic rod for best results). Independent laboratory tests against various blade materials, including ceramic and high alloy stainless steel, confirm Cera-Titan’s superior cutting performance. That says it all.
