Gil Hibben GH5013 Old West Bowie $175.00 This knife is an actual copy of a fantasy Bowie knife of American folklore and legend. The story of the Bowie began on a sandbar of the Mississippi River above Natchez, Mississippi on September 19, 1827. A brawl that eventually involved Col. James “Jim” Bowie, who, having been shot and stabbed, successfully defended himself killing Major Norris Wright and wounding Alfred Blanchard with what onlookers described as a “large butcher knife.” This and other tales of Bowie’s abilities with a knife led to the widespread popularity of what became known as the “Bowie”. This elegant recreation offers a hardwood handle accented by the brass-plated blade catcher and guard. Includes a genuine leather sheath with brass plated star and Hibben Knives® logo.
