Yellowstone BAR Yellowstone Compound $15.00 Yellowstone is a fine, dry compound that produces a polished, surgical edge. It is all sharpening compound. No waxes or grease to clog up the leather. In fact, it is more of a burnishing (moving metal) compound than an abrasive (removing metal) so that edges do not become distorted and changed over repeated use. Developed originally for woodcarving knives, it works wonderfully for all edges, steels, and blade configurations. Yellowstone compound adheres well to most strops and can be used directly on cloth or felt wheels. Try this unique compound and you'll instantly feel a difference in the way your tools cut. Four ounce bar (4"x1"x1").

Yellowstone STROP Yellowstone Stropping System $40.00 Yellowstone is a fine, dry compound that produces a polished, surgical edge. It is all sharpening compound. No waxes or grease to clog up the leather. In fact, it is more of a burnishing (moving metal) compound than an abrasive (removing metal) so that edges do not become distorted and changed over repeated use. Developed originally polishing molds for plastics and glass, then adapted for woodcarving knives, it works wonderfully for all edges, all steels, and all blade configurations. Yellowstone compound adheres well to most strops and can be used directly on cloth or felt wheels. Try this unique compound and you'll instantly feel a difference in the way your tools cut. Yellowstone has a consistancy similar to chalk. Scrape some of it off with the back side of your knife and let it fall onto the leather strop. In other words, you are making a powder of it. After coating the leather, it does not take much and after you get it imbeded into the leather, it will last through several stroppings. You do not have to put it on every time. Strop your knife by laying it as flat as you can on the leather and while holding downward pressure on the knife, draw it toward you with the sharp edge trailing away from you. You will see your strop start turning black very quickly as you work your knife on it. This is the metal that is being polished from the edge. This lets you know that the strop and the yellowstone are doing their job. Your knife will be razor sharp with just a little effort. Complete with Pigskin Strop and bar of Yellowstone.
