The Friedrich Hartkopf Company has existed for over 125 years and has specialized in the production of high-quality, hand-crafted pocketknives. Utilizing the best traditional materials, all models have blades made of high carbon stainless steel. Bolsters are made of solid nickel silver and liners of brass support and strengthen the construction to make these knives durable and long lasting. Their expert hafting of once common handles, but scarce today, like Stag, Rosewood, Ebony, Buffalo horn, and Cocobolo adorn this pocket heirlooms.
Since its founding in 1890 the Friedrich Hartkopf Company has been run by five generations of the Harthopf family. It has been managed by Holger Hartkopf since 2008. The fine cutler’s art of making pocketknives is rapidly disappearing in Solingen as well as other traditional cutlery centers. Today, Hartkopf is of a few manufactures that still produce knives like those previous generations carried.
