Karesuando Kniven

People living close to nature know that the knife is the most important tool you carry when in the mountains, forests and wilderness. A genuine, good knife becomes your loyal companion and is with you throughout your life. Karesuando Kniven has been making handcrafted knives and tools in the Lapland region of Sweden for over 35 years.

The knives crafted in Karesuando are adapted to their environment of the barren, arctic climate, Northern Lights and Midnight Sun. 150 miles north of the Arctic Circle, along the same latitude as middle Greenland and the northernmost regions of Canada, Karesuando is Sweden’s northernmost church village. The village was founded with its first permanent house in 1670. Reindeer husbandry is one of the area’s most important industries and Karesuando lies within the Könkämä sameby reindeer-herding area.

Karesuando Kniven make genuine products that are shaped by centuries of handicraft traditions and natural raw materials. Most knives are fitted with a stainless steel blade hardened to 57HRC with just the right hardness to stay sharp but also keep its great re-sharpening properties. Karesuando truly believes a good knife should exceed the user’s expectations and needs, which is why they use only the finest materials. Since 1975 Karesuando has manufactured over 200,000 knives and over 1 million blades.
