For generations, Thiers Issard’s artisans have perpetuated unique craftmanship, passed down with care and respect. Each knife made in their workshops carries in it the heritage of a family history and the richness of the Thiernoise knife tradition. Every detail matters: from the choice of noble materials to the precise gesture of the craftsman. They combine heritage and modernity to offer you exceptional pieces, designed to last and convey, in turn, a story. Hand shaped, in Thiers, to honor a profession and a passion.
THIERS-ISSARD was founded in 1884 by Pierre Thiers, born in 1860 and died in 1929. He had an extraordinary reputation as a skilled blacksmith, worked not only on hand razors but also on billhooks, kitchen knives, etc. and passed on his know-how on historical metalworking down to the present. When he created his own company, he added his wife's name to avoid confusion with the other Thiers master cutler. After the death of her husband, Madame Thiers continued the business and was soon helped by her son, Pierre Thiers (1884-1962), then a few years later by Louis (1910-1985), and Pierre THIERS (1914-1997). The last successor, Philippe Thiers, who sold the factory in 1985 to Gilles Reynewaeter, the current owner.
