C41CF40TH - Native 5 - Carbon Fiber
To commemorate Spyderco’s 40th anniversary as a company, they wanted to produce a knife that is truly extraordinary, yet quintessentially Spyderco. They began with the Native® 5—the highly refined, fifth-generation evolution of their classic Native model and a shining example of their made-in-USA craftsmanship. Spyderco then elevated the design even further with advanced materials and manufacturing methods to create something truly remarkable.
The signature spear point blade of this knife is made of Thor pattern martensitic Damascus steel from the Swedish firm Damasteel. This extraordinary material is produced by Damasteel’s proprietary powder metallurgy process, which forge welds layers of RWL 34 and PMC 27 steels into a state-of-the-art stainless Damascus steel. After the blade is precision machined and full-flat ground to final form, it is acid etched to reveal its breathtakingly intricate layered pattern and proudly laser engraved with Spyderco’s 40th-anniversary logo.
The equally stunning handle of the 40th Anniversary knife features precision machined solid carbon fiber scales. Each scale is machined with an intricate fluted pattern and then expertly polished to highlight its rich detail and accentuate the beauty of the carbon fiber. Threaded stainless steel inserts nested into the back of each scale allow attachment of the knife’s signature four-position pocket clip, which provides convenient, versatile carry and pays homage to Spyderco’s history-making role in creating the modern clip-carried, one-hand-opening folding knife.
Spyderco’s 40th Anniversary Native 5 is a vivid expression of Spyderco’s rich history and an enduring symbol of our contributions to the world’s knife culture. This remarkable knife will be produced in very limited quantities and is certain to be among the most prized factory knives ever produced.
This remarkable knife will be produced as a Sprint Run in very limited quantities and is packaged in a padded zipper pouch.
