7" Granton Santoku - Ventura
7″ Santoku (Vegetable Knife) with Granton Edge
The Granton Edge Santoku knife, also known as a Japanese Chef’s Knife, is a wide blade knife with an overall thinner spine and taper than a French or German style Chef’s Knife. The word Santoku translates as “3 good things,” (virtues) which means it is versatile like a chef’s knife and cuts vegetables, fish and meat. The thin taper (or blade thickness) is lengthened to give it maximum precision when slicing. The spine runs parallel to the relatively flat cutting edge and only curves near the tip to create a broad bladed knife similar in shape to a cleaver. The alternating kullenschliffs (a.k.a. kullens, hollows or Grantons) on each side of the knife reduce drag and prevent items from sticking to the blade.
Innovation continues! Messermeister introduces the Ventura Knife Line series. They have added a natural handle to their German style stamped line designed in California and produced in Portugal. “Ventura” means fortune in Portuguese, and Ventura is also Messermeister’s home-headquarters county. The blade is one piece of the finest stamped German steel and edged and honed by hand to give it a true Messermeister razor sharp polished edge. The ergonomic triple rivet, full tang handle is made from enhanced Brazilian Cherrywood. The beautiful, highly-figured wood is stabilized making the handle super durable. The Ventura Knife Line is constructed from the highest quality materials and is built to last a lifetime.
