Vacuum Assist Investment Casting is a special manufacturing process Condor Tool & Knife uses to make their axes and some knives in 440C stainless steel. This process allows for greater product detail, strength and manufacturing economics. This process allows them to engineer their patent pending CIP (cast-in-place) wedge on all CTK axes and hatchets, where the wedge that holds the head to a wood handle is actually a part of the head. A stainless steel safety roll pin that goes through the head and handle was added when it was noted that competition speed chopping axes have this feature to keep the axe heads from flying off the handle and into the audience.
