No.763 - Berget Folder - Beige Canvas Micarta
Berget is the first ever standard Helle model with Micarta handle scales. Small and sturdy, the Berget folding knife is based on the smallest module in their folding lineup. Its sturdy construction and scandi-grind make it the perfect outdoor EDC – easy to carry in your pocket and a solid tool for your outdoor adventures.
The blade in 12C27 steel has a traditional drop-point blade shape and a nail nick for ease of opening. The sturdy back lock and blade means that the knife feels and performs like a fixed blade when in a locked position.
The handle scales are made from Micarta, creating a durable and comfortable handle that is easy to maintain. The ever-so-slightly curved shape of the handle is reminiscent of Heileberget, the flat mountain range overlooking Helle’s home fjord of Dalsfjorden that also gives the model its name. The slim and slightly curved shape gives it a comfortable grip. The handle is held by screws and can be easily detached if in need of cleaning.
Since early times, the Norwegian knife has been an important companion in everyday life. Norwegian knife manufacturing today is clearly influenced by traditional shapes and materials that were established hundreds of years ago. A well-made leather sheath and handles of wood, leather, and antler seem to be a legacy that Norwegians want to preserve. A/S Helle Fabrikker is dedicated to honoring this legacy by developing knives that are on the leading edge of technology, yet still maintain the traditional look and feel of a truly Norwegian knife. Unique in Helle knives is the laminated stainless steel used to produce a tough, razor-sharp blade. The technology was developed by their company in cooperation with a Norwegian steel mill. This high performance steel is available only in their knives and gives each blade a unique combination of high strength and long lasting sharpness. Laminated steel is another Norwegian tradition that is rarely found in other parts of the world.
