Squarehead - Black FRN
Spyderco’s first Squarehead folder was a compact titanium pocketknife that offered cutting performance far beyond its diminutive size. Designed by electrical and electronic engineer by trade, and part-time custom knifemaker Darriel Caston, it reflected his obsession with small folding knives and novel mechanical gadgets. The latest version, the Squarehead Lightweight faithfully maintains the innovative design concept and compact functionality of the original Squarehead, but in a more economical format. The heart of the Squarehead is its distinctive square-shaped Sheepfoot blade machined from American-made CTS BD1 stainless steel and features a single-sided flat chisel grind to safeguard that the PlainEdge cutting edge nests safely in the handle. A generously sized Trademark Round Hole proclaims the knife’s Spyderco pedigree and allows for easy one or two-handed opening. The infrastructure of its handle construction is an injection-molded fiberglass-reinforced-nylon (FRN) scale, available in black or gray. The outer surface of the single sided scale has a Bi-Directional Texturing pattern to ensure a secure grip, while the inner surface houses a nested stainless steel liner that forms the core of the knife’s built to last Linerlock mechanism. The base of the molded FRN scale features a wide slot that allows the knife to be easily attached to a key chain, neck chain, or lanyard.
