This pocket knife is an original Taschenfeitel and comes with a centuries-old manufacturing tradition. It has been handcrafted in Trattenbach in Upper Austria for almost 600 years. The Trattenbacher Taschenfeitel is registered as an intangible cultural heritage. The turned handle is made of beech wood which is a hardwood, typically used in Europe. The interestingly shaped blade is ground on both sides.

What is a penny knife? A penny knife was a very basic utility knife. The name derives from what it reportedly cost in England and America during the late 18th century. Another legend says that you can’t gift a knife without giving a penny. It is an old tradition that comes from the superstition that a gift of a knife cuts friendship ties.
