Pattada - Black G-10
Spyderco’s unique Ethnic Series is an ongoing project to recognize and pay tribute to the world’s distinctive ethnic knives by expressing them in modern form. The latest member of this elite family is the Pattada. A Pattada is the traditional folding knife of Sardinia, an autonomous region of Italy and the second largest island in the Mediterranean. Spyderco’s expression of this distinctive cutting tool takes the classic lines and timeless styling of the original and faithfully renders them using state-of-the-art materials and manufacturing methods. The iconic Pattada blade shape, characterized by a straight clip point and long curved cutting edge, is faithfully executed in premium N690Co stainless steel. Its full-flat grind and PlainEdge cutting edge ensure superior edge geometry and low-friction cutting performance.
The blade is paired with a gracefully curved handle built with full stainless steel liners and painstakingly machined contoured G-10 scales. The handle’s liners provide exceptional strength and also form the foundation of the knife’s sturdy Linerlock mechanism that locks the blade securely in the open position. A non-traditional, but extremely functional, deep-pocket wire clip provides convenient tip-up access and is reversible for carry on either side of the body.
THE SPYDERCO ETHNIC SERIES –
Spyderco developed its Ethnic Series Knives to recognize the world’s many distinctive cultural knives. In addition to paying tribute to widely recognized ethnic blade styles, our goal is to showcase lesser-known cultural knives, their qualities, and the significance they hold to the societies that created them. Although many knife companies have reproduced native knife patterns in various forms, Spyderco has chosen to honor these designs by expressing them as modern, fully-functional knives—often folders—crafted with the latest state-of-the-art materials.
This demanding format challenges their skills and manufacturing convention, in the process yielding a unique family of knives and an increased understanding and appreciation for the tools that inspired them.
