Respect - CPM 154 / G-10
Designed by Spyderco founder Sal Glesser, this formidable knife represents his personal interpretation of the classic American Bowie Knife. Today’s characterization of the Bowie knife has come to incorporate several recognizable design features, including a cross guard and a clip-point blade and it follows a historic western tradition as to its specifics in wear, use and carry. The Respect’s dramatic clip-point blade is made from .300-inch-thick CPM 154 stainless steel and has a broad profile for exceptional edge geometry. The blade is full-flat ground with an extended swedge grind on the spine. Distally tapered, it is ground thick-to-thin in both its length and in its height, offering friction resistant cutting. A finger choil in front of the stainless-steel double guard, offers the user the ability to practice “old-school” Bowie techniques. To ensure maximum control and leverage, the Respect has a highly refined, contoured handle shape with a pinky hook. The two-piece handle is machined from solid G-10 slabs and seamlessly attached to the concealed tang with oversized Torx screws. A knife truly worthy of its name, the Respect comes complete with a handcrafted leather sheath with a belt loop, brass “frog” stud, and retaining strap.
