Flattening Stone - 120 grit
A flattening stone is used to dress stones that are no longer flat enough to sharpen properly. Pride’s Flattening Stone is designed to flatten without being overly aggressive. Best practice is to “lightly” flatten the sharpening stone, using the Flattening Stone before sharpening and between tools. More frequent flattening of the sharpening stone may be required if the stone is into hard service. A flat stone is indispensable for effective sharpening, especially necessary for straight razors, single bevel traditional Japanese knives, chisels and plane irons. Grit: 120. Size: 9″ x 3″ x ¾”
Pride Abrasive sharpening stones are available in a range of grits from 220 to 10,000 and are primarily used for maintaining sharp edges on all types of knives, but can also be used on any tool that needs a maintained edge. 200 through 600 grit are coarse and ideal for repairing a chip or reprofiling a bevel, 800 and 1000 grit are great for touch-ups, 3000 is the level of sharpness many high-end knives leave the factory, 6000 is typically the limit of most chefs’ needs, and 8000 and 10,000 grits will provide scalpel-like sharpness and mirror-like polish.
